11:07 “The best pitching prospect since Strasburg” is a 22-year-old 164-mph fireballer
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Paul Skins, 22, will make his second major league start.

“Paul Skins made his first major league start against the Cubs at home on July 12,” MLB.com reported on Sunday. It was perhaps the most anticipated debut of a pitching prospect in Pirates history. In his second start, he'll face the Cubs once again, but this time at historic Wrigley Field,” said the article, highlighting Skins, who is currently rated as the top pitching prospect in the game. Skins is expected to start against the Cubs on April 18th.

Skins is a right-handed pitching prospect who was the No. 1 overall pick in the first round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft. After making his professional debut last year and quickly moving up to Double-A, where he posted a 5.40 ERA in five games (6⅔ innings), Skins has been outstanding in Triple-A this year, posting a 0.99 ERA in seven games (27⅓ innings). He struck out 45 batters.

Skins' dominant performance at Triple-A eventually led to his major league debut against the Cubs at PNC Park on April 12th. While his debut didn't go well - he allowed three runs on six hits (one homer) and two walks in four innings with seven strikeouts and one walk - there are still high hopes for Skins.

MLB.com writes, “In his debut, we learned that Skins throws a major league-caliber ball. He admitted after the start that his fastball wasn't as sharp as it usually is and that he gave up more hits and walks, but his seven strikeouts in four innings is certainly impressive. He threw 17 pitches over 100 mph (160.9 km/h), 안전놀이터 추천 including a fastball that topped out at 101.9 mph (164.0 km/h). “101.9 mph is the fastest ball thrown in Pittsburgh since 2008, when pitch tracking was introduced,” said Skins' debut.

“Skins isn't just a pitcher who relies on his fastball,” wrote MLB.com, “He showed he can get outs with his slider, changeup, curveball, and ‘splinter’. These are the pitches that have made him a promising pitcher.” Pittsburgh manager Derek Shelton said, “I think the Skins got a lot out of his first start and it's only going to get better. It was good overall. The pitches were really good.”

The Skins' special pitch is a ball called a “splinker”. According to MLB.com, “The Splinker is a hybrid pitch that Skins created by mixing a splitter and a sinker. It is categorized as a splitter in pitch tracking systems. It drops down the bell like a splitter, but the binding forms at about 95 mph (152.9 km/h), creating an unprecedented combination of binding and movement. Cubs hitters took 12 swings at it in Skins' debut, seven of them for strikes.”

Skins, who is just beginning his major league career, hasn't thrown many pitches yet. In his debut, he threw just 84 pitches. MLB.com wrote, “Skins threw 84 pitches in his debut, the most he's thrown in his pro career. The Pirates are very conscious of his pitch count and have been slowly and carefully developing it from Triple-A before calling him up to the majors. In his second start, he'll likely throw a little more, but don't expect a 110-pitch complete game.”

MLB.com explains why Skins is getting so much attention: “Skins is currently ranked as the No. 2 prospect by MLB Pipeline. He's considered the best pitching prospect since Stephen Strasburg made his major league debut 14 years ago,” emphasizing Skins' tremendous potential.

Roki Sasaki of the Chiba Lotte Marines is out for revenge in Japanese baseball. It's a revenge match in a week's time.

Chiba Lotte will face Nippon Ham at their home stadium, ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba Prefecture. Sasaki will be the starting pitcher.

Sasaki took the loss in his last start against Nippon Ham on April 10, throwing 123 pitches in 5⅔ innings, allowing eight hits, one home run, five walks, four strikeouts, and five runs. His ERA spiked from 1.64 to 2.56.

The 123 pitches were Sasaki's most in a single game. Still, the five runs were the most allowed in his professional debut. Sasaki, who had pitched well through five innings with one run, gave up four hits in the sixth inning to tie the game at 3-3 after taking a 3-1 lead. With runners on first and third, he allowed the two runners the reliever left on base to score, increasing the deficit to five runs.

The game was played at Sapporo Eskon Field, 안전놀이터 home of the Nippon Hammers. It was Sasaki's first appearance at Espon Field, home of Chiba Lotte.

Since his professional debut, Sasaki has never lost two games in a season, let alone consecutive games against the same team. Furthermore, Chiba Lotte has lost seven straight games against Nippon Hamm this season. Sasaki has a lot of reasons to win.

“I will pitch with all my strength from the first inning and try to contribute to the team's victory,” said Sasaki, who has a chance to redeem himself.

Meanwhile, Nippon Ham's starting pitcher is Shoma Kanemura, who has appeared in 11 games (one start) this season, mostly on the mound.

10:57 Aaron Judge has been perfect in May
Aaron Judge has been perfect in May. His on-base percentage for the month is a whopping .867.

The New York Yankees outfielder hit three doubles and a home run against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Saturday (May 16). He finished 4-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, one walk and two runs scored. After homering in the first inning, Judge reached base in every plate appearance, including three doubles and a walk. The Yankees rode Judge's big game to a 4-0 victory.

The home run in particular had a tremendous distance. Judge's first-inning home run off Pablo Lopez had a bat speed of 113 mph (181.9 km/h) and a distance of 467 feet (142.3 meters), according to MLB Statcast. That's the third-longest home run in the majors this season. The top spot is held by Mike Trout (LA Angels) at 473 feet (144.2 meters) on April 2.

After a slow start to the season, Judge has come full circle. After setting the American League record for most home runs in a season with 62 in 2022, Judge has been called the “cleanup hitter” of the era. But last year, he suffered an injury setback. A torn ligament in his right big toe limited him to 106 games, and he finished with a 37-homer, 75-RBI line that would have tarnished his home run crown.

This season also got off to a rocky start. Jersey got off to a slow start after being sidelined with abdominal pain just before the start of the season. After going without a home run in the first six games, he hit his first home run of the season in seven games, but his numbers for the month of April were less than stellar, 카지노사이트 with six home runs, a monthly batting average of .361 and an on-base percentage of .450. On April 5, he was ejected from a home game against the Detroit Tigers after complaining about an umpire's strike call after he struck out. It was his first ejection since his debut.

But he's been on fire since May. Judge has five home runs in his last nine games, and he's batting 3-for-7 with a .500 on-base percentage and .867 slugging percentage for the month of May, which is all the majesty of a home run hitter. His 11 home runs on the season rank fourth in the American League. He is two behind Kyle Tucker (Houston) for the lead. His batting stats are likely to climb even higher, especially given his torrid pace in May.
